On Monday, TBR Football reported that Chelsea and Liverpool are searching for a new central defender ahead of the 2026 season. Furthermore, the information reveals that these two clubs and Manchester City have all held discussions this month about the prospect of signing Upamecano.
The outlet also confirmed that representatives have contacted Real Madrid and Barcelona about Upamecano, with both clubs weighing potential moves.
At Real Madrid, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are set to become free agents when their contracts expire at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Barcelona could see center-backs Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen join the list of players available on a free transfer under current circumstances.
Bayern Munich has no intention of letting one of its top players leave on a free transfer after this season without putting up a fight. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany recently reported that, following Vincent Kompany’s contract extension, Max Eberl is now looking into negotiating a new deal for Dayot Upamecano.
Talks are ongoing, but the two sides have yet to settle on details such as the signing-on bonus or whether a release clause will be included. Bayern Munich, however, remain firm on not including a minimum fee release clause in Upamecano’s potential contract.
