Chelsea have officially inquired about Tottenham Hotspur target Nico Paz

Tottenham Hotspur are building their squad under the direction of their new manager Thomas Frank, who has already brought in new signings in the summer transfer window of 2025. The club is still looking to strengthen various positions on the pitch, and one of them is the midfield.

Spurs have been linked with one of the creative profiles who has drawn heavy attention in the transfer market, and that is none other than Como attacking midfielder Nico Paz. The North London side have looked to find technical profiles in the transfer market who can seamlessly link midfield to attack with their pace and confidence.

The 21-year-old has performed really well in Serie A and has shown strong control on the ball. Many scouts have felt that the Argentine can soon play for a bigger club. Tottenham have been tracking his progress for quite some time, but it won’t be easy for them to get their hands on him, as he has many interested suitors in the market.

What’s the matter?

CaughtOffside have reported that several big clubs have already initiated conversations regarding Paz. Premier League giants Chelsea have also inquired, while Italian giants Inter Milan are preparing a significant bid of €58 million that would be directed to Real Madrid due to clauses involved in Paz’s earlier departure.

Los Blancos have inserted a sell-on clause in his deal, and hence they are set to benefit from any future sale of a talented player whose market value is soon to reportedly reach €100 million. Madrid hold buy-back options worth €9 million in 2026 and €10 million in 2027.

Meanwhile, Spurs have been eyeing a striker with Real Madrid’s Endrick at the top of their wishlist, but he is reportedly moving to Lyon in January. Also, another of their transfer targets, Igor Thiago, is going nowhere in January.

Why do Tottenham need Nico Paz?

The club can treat him as a long-term investment who contributes immediately to the first team. Paz will fit naturally into the high-energy, structured system that manager Thomas Frank employs.

Frank’s tactical approach uses a fluid midfield and quick transitions, and Paz’s versatility supports that style; he can operate effectively as a central midfielder, a number 10, or even an inverted winger. The 21-year-old’s excellent dribbling ability and precise through-balls flourish in Frank’s system, which focuses on creating central channels and exploiting defensive gaps.

Moreover, Paz demonstrates a strong work ethic and meaningful defensive contributions, and he integrates cleanly into the aggressive counter-pressing strategy Frank uses to win the ball high up the pitch. However, such a talented midfielder brings competition with him, and with his contract valid until 2028, it will be extremely tough to pry him away.
