Mendy Signs With New Agency Ahead of Summer Window

The Senegalese goalkeeper has lost his role as the no.1 goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge this season, with Kepa Arrizabalaga being preferred over him by both sacked manager Graham Potter and current interim boss Frank Lampard.

Romano adds that Mendy has signed with the Lian Sports Agency ahead of the summer transfer window. Fali Ramadani, the agent of his Chelsea teammate Kalidou Koulibaly, will be handling his future. It’s also stated that the only way Mendy will be leaving the Blues is if a suitable proposal pleasing him and the club is received.

Moreover, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is also claimed to be waiting for Chelsea to announce their new manager (which should be done soon) and then make the final decision over where he sees his future.

Mendy Enduring Tough Campaign at Chelsea

Mendy – who is reported to currently earn wages of £50k-per-week – has come a long way since being a prolific part of helping Chelsea win the 2021 Champions League and even managing to keep a clean sheet in the final against Manchester City. He started the season pretty well with Chelsea, picking up a clean sheet in their opening Premier League game against Everton.

But things started to go from bad to worse after that. He made 11 appearances for the London side before the Qatar World Cup break and went on to play in that tournament with Senegal. However, since the campaign restarted, Mendy has not played a match for the Blues, with Kepa playing in all of them. The 31-year-old was hailed as a “fantastic leader“ by Ruben Loftus-Cheek earlier this season but appears to have lost his role at Stamford Bridge as the season has progressed.
