Chelsea still watching Barella despite midfield additions

Chelsea’s signing of Carney Chukwuemeka yesterday might make you think that Thomas Tuchel is now happy with his midfield options – but plenty of our other business this season has seen us go for players in positions we’re already strong in, so we don’t totally discount the rumours at CalcioMercato that we’re keen on Nicolo Barella.

We’re already in talks with the Italian side over Denzel Dumfries, and they’ve taken Romelu Lukaku on loan this summer – so lines of communication are very open.

Inter’s struggles to sell their top assets – Milan Skrinian and Alessandro Bastoni in particular – leave them short of money, and while keeping Barella has been a priority, it may be their only way out of falling back into a financial black hole.

If he was on the market, you can be sure that Chelsea would be interested, so we will keep a close eye on all these rumours.
