Simons, 22, is an ascending attacking midfielder or winger, depending on the formation, who has played for Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven before joining RB Leipzig in 2023. In the Bundesliga last season, he scored 10 goals and dropped seven assists across 25 matches, proving his elite capability in a top league.
On the pitch, he mixes flair and creativity, doing a lot of his work in the final third. He excels at progressing the ball forward and finding chances for his teammates that lead to goal-scoring opportunities. Simmons uses quick dribbles and decision-making to unlock defenses, which will only add to Enzo Maresca’s potent and youthful attack.
With Noni Madueke recently being sold to Arsenal, it opens up some space for another player. Simons’ versatility to play in the midfield or in a forward role (particularly out wide) makes him an intriguing signing for Maresca.
His value is reportedly set at around €65-70 million, and RB Leipzig initially paid around €50 million to sign him permanently from PSG, so it’s clear Simons is a major talent.
If both sides agree, Simons joins a dangerous team heading into 2025, playing alongside the likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Reece James, and many others. His youth and experience position him to be valuable right now and for years to come, making him a potential long-term signing.
