The Blues are aiming to continue their unbeaten run in the league as they have won four and drawn one since changing manager at the turn of the year, they take on a relegation fodder Claret outfit who have struggled defensively all season.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup & Team News for Burnley Fixture

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Rob Sanchez has been the first option in goal and starts basically every match when fit. The back line has a preferred four of Marc Cucurella, Wes Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and either Malo Gusto or Reece James. Due to rotation, we have seen Mamadou Sarr, Josh Acheampong, and Jorrel Hato come in as the alternates.

Andrey Santos and Moises Caicedo is the preferred pivot, and usually the only one utilised if possible. Ahead of them we’ve seen some interesting configurations with Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer playing as either the number ten or an inside forward with Pedro Neto, Estevao, or Alejandro Garnacho coming in as a more traditional winger.

Ahead of them, Joao Pedro is the first-choice striker due to his rich vein of form, he can be rested for Liam Delap who grabbed three assists last time out against Hull City.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

More often than not, the Blues set up in a 4-2-3-1 system that’s been consistent for many seasons now, depending on the opposition, they can switch to a 3-4-2-1 of sorts but they tend to prefer the former.  They aim to recycle possession and use quick passes to unlock the back line after baiting the press. One-touch passes and threaded balls through the middle move the defence around and trust the talent of the squad to play well in tight, crowded areas.

League form under Rosenior has been great with four wins and a draw so far. They’ve been scoring goals for fun in the FA Cup and look fairly clinical in the league with the defensive side being the biggest worry for fans as they rarely keep clean sheets. Defeats to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup remain the only defeats under the new coach.

Chelsea Team News

PremierInjuries indicates there is a mini-crisis on deck at Stamford Bridge with as many as seven different players either unavailable or doubtful. Mykhailo Mudryk, Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo, Jamie Gittens, and Cucurella are all but guaranteed to miss this one.

The uncertainty lies in fringe options like Tosin Adarabioyo (unlisted) and Filip Jorgensen who were dealing with minor issues and could be back but no update was given on either in the press conference. There should be no issues with match fitness for once as everyone has had over a week off since the FA Cup victory.
