These are the player ratings for Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion on September 27. The Blues meet the Seagulls in one of the Saturday 3pm kick-offs for a continuation of one of football’s recently emerged rivalries. Fireworks brewed at Stamford Bridge on the day as a red card proved costly in a 3-1 defeat for the home side.

Note: This will be updated at the final whistle with ratings and discussions for the entire eleven.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Brighton

Goalkeeping

Robert Sanchez – 6
Did basically everything asked of him. Collected balls into the box with a commanding force and couldn’t do much about either goal.

Defenders

Marc Cucurella – 7
Kept his man fairly quiet on the left and was a good force going forward throughout the game.

Trevoh Chalobah -4
Looked solid alongside Hato at the heart of the back line before his sill red card put his side in danger

Jorrel Hato – 6
A stronger CB performance than has been seen lately. Provided cover for Chalobah and recovery pace to stop the counter attacks. Looked relatively assured in possesion.

Reece James – 8
Showed his quality on both ends of the pitch. Fantastic display defensively, in build-up and on the wing late on when asked to rush forward.

Midfield

Andrey Santos – 5
Controlled in possession and pressed well to free up his midfield partners. Made a mistake that eventually put Chalobah against the wall before the red card and was promptly withdrawn

Enzo Fernandez – 8
First-half he looked at home as the number ten, especially with the backing of Santos and Caciedo. Scored the goal by making an intelligent run at the back post.

Moises Caicedo – 7
Usual commanding performance from Caicedo. Excellent in defensive areas but wasn’t able to offer enough going forward

Estevao – 6
Bright on the wings and tracked back to defend well. Probably will need to look up and try to set up teammates more as his shots were all blocked with some of his teammates growing frustrated. Was taken off with the team down to 10 despite being a possible outball.

Pedro Neto – 6
Worked hard as always but continues to lack end product. Dragged his best change wide but got back to help stop the Seagulls’ wingers.

Striker

Joao Pedro – 6
Tireless performance once again from Pedro. He was in good areas but just suffered from a lack of options and needs to be a number nine positionally

Substitutions

Josh Acheampong – 3
Thrown in at the deep end after the red card and looked a step off the pace. Allowed a relatively unchallenged header for the equaliser and made a mistake soon after. Gifted the Seagulls their third late on.

Malo Gusto – 5
Fine performance after the team went down to ten, not much he could have done.

Benoit Badiashile – N/R

Romeo Lavia – N/R

Be sure to stay tuned for the Chelsea vs Brighton player ratings following a rather hectic outing in the Premier League.
