These are the Chelsea vs Newcastle confirmed lineups for their Premier League clash for the early Saturday game. The Blues are in the tight race for Champions League football and will need a win over a Magpies team that have struggled all season. A poor start for Eddie Howe’s side has spiralled into an inconsistent run as they once again find it difficult to play in the league and Champions League, similar to two seasons ago. Their opponents are competing on all fronts but have managed their return to the bigger competitions with more ease currently.
Rob Sanchez starts in goal with a back line of Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Wes Fofana, and Marc Cucurella. Reece James partners Moises Caicedo in midfield with Cole Palmer, Alejandro Garnacho, and Pedro Neto supporting Joao Pedro up front.
Ten changes from the cup win over Cardiff. The only real surprise is Enzo Fernandez finally getting an extended rest as James comes in to partner Caicedo with Palmer at the number ten spot. This will likely see Cucurella invert to the half-space around the box to support Garnacho when in possession.
Aaron Ramsdale starts in goal with Malick Thiaw, Lewis Hall, Fabian Schar, and Alex Murphy in the back line. Sandro Tonali, Jacob Murphy, Lewis Miley, Jacob Ramsey, Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade round out the eleven
It is a 4-2-2 with a few changes to accommodate injuries and rotation. Yoanne Wissa, Harvey Barnes, and Joe Willock all come out for a brand new attacking three while Tino Livramento is replaced by fellow Blue alumni Lewis Hall.
