Chelsea's Christian Pulisic nominated for Premier League Young Player of the Year

U.S. soccer and Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is up for the Premier League's Young Player of the Year award after a stellar campaign.

Pulisic is on the eight-player list alongside Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and Dean Henderson, according to ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

Pulisic enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the Premier League after being moved from Borussia Dortmund. He helped the Blues secure a top-four finish.

While he only appeared in 25 games due to injury, Pulisic tallied nine goals and six assists in those appearances.

Manchester United's Rashford finished the campaign with 17 goals, while Greenwood tallied 10. Martial also tallied 17 goals. The United trio helped propel the team into third place.

Mount, who plays alongside Pulisic for the Blues, had a breakthrough year with seven goals and five assists.

Grealish, who is Aston Villa's captain, notched eight goals and six assists while factoring in on 14 of the team's 41 goals.

Sheffield United keeper Henderson helped the club to a ninth-place finish with 13 clean sheets.

This is the first time the Premier League is handing out such an award. It can include players up to 24 years old, and there's no restriction on the number of seasons already played in the league.
