The Chicago Fire announced multiple roster decisions for 2024 ahead of the holiday weekend. As expected, the Fire exercised their purchase option on the club’s 2023 Golden Boot winner Maren Haile-Selassie from FC Lugano.
Defensive midfielder Ousmane Doumbia’s purchase option from the Swiss club was declined by Chicago. Additionally, Alonso Aceves’ loan-purchase option was declined.
Defenders Jonathan Dean and Wyatt Omsberg, alongside goalkeepers Spencer Richey and Jeff Gal, had their 2024 contract options exercised, keeping them in Chicago for another MLS season. Fabian Herbers also had his 2024 contract exercised.
The Fire declined 2024 contract options on Alex Monis, Kendall Burks, and Allan Rodriguez, making all three players eligible for the 2023 MLS Re-Entry Draft.
Kei Kamara is a free agent and the Fire are not offering him a new contract for 2024.
The announcement stated that the Fire are currently negotiating a contract for 2024 with Javier Casas.
