The Chicago Fire’s future home is beginning to take form, at least digitally.
The Fire released renderings of the stadium they intend to build in Chicago at The 78 during a 3rd Ward Town Hall meeting on Monday evening.
The new stadium will have a capacity of 22,000 and will feature 2,000 safe standing seats who will be in a steep section of the new venue, which is expected to be ready for the 2028 MLS season.
The Fire announced that they will be building a soccer-specific stadium at The 78 earlier this month, with a mixed-use district planned for the area around the open-air venue.
The Fire currently play their home matches at Soldier Field but are not the primary tenant, so this move will ensure they will be able to play their schedule at their own venue from 2028 on.
