The Chicago Red Stars needed to add goalkeeping depth ahead of the 2025 NWSL season and they did that on Monday, signing Halle Mackiewicz to a one-year deal.
Mackiewicz is expected to compete with Mackenzie Wood for the backup goalkeeper spot behind Alyssa Naeher.

Mackiewicz joins Chicago after making 10 starts for Trelleborgs FF, who finished at the bottom of Sweden’s Damallsvenskan table, after joining the club in the summer. She was drafted in the third round of the 2024 NWSL Draft by the Kansas City Current but suffered an injury early on and never got a chance to feature in the NWSL.
Mackiewicz had a standout collegiate career at Clemson, where she was the starter for her last two seasons, was named an All-American and ACC Goalkeeper of the Year as a senior in 2023. The Bloomfield, Colorado native played her youth soccer with Real Colorado, the club started by current Red Stars head coach Lorne Donaldson.
