Club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney to face MLS' Philadelphia Union

The gang returns to the City of Brotherly Love for a friendly.

Wrexham AFC, which competes in the fifth tier of England's football pyramid and is owned by the Hollywood duo of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, announced Friday it will play in the United States for the first time this summer and face Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union on July 29 at Subaru Park.

As part of the club's journey across the pond, Wrexham will complete a five-day training camp.

"Philadelphia is the home city of Wrexham co-chairman Rob McElhenney, and it is anticipated he and Ryan Reynolds will be together to watch the team live for the first time," the club statement added.

Reynolds, McElhenney, and Wrexham had some fun online discussing the upcoming fixture:

McElhenney and the Union will also host a community event involving multiple local charities.

Per an ESPN piece, Wrexham recently finished eighth in the National League for the 2020-21 season.
