Club set to move for Tottenham player after recent talks in London, 28-year-old keen

Real Betis are keen on acquiring the services of Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentine midfield star who made the move to Tottenham from Real Betis back in 2019 is keen on making a return to the Spanish club. Spurs forked out close to €50 million to sign the attacking midfielder who was expected to be the next big thing.

Unfortunately, the move hasn’t gone according to plan. The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself as a starter at the English club and according to a report from BeSoccer, Real Betis are looking to re-sign Lo Celso who only has a year left on his deal.

Spurs will look to make major changes to their squad in the summer. While the focus will be on signing quality players to bolster their squad, they will also look to sell players who are surplus to requirements. Lo Celso could be one of the players who could be shown the exit door.

He is not an important part of their first team under Postecoglou having racked up less than 600 minutes across 24 appearances. With his contract running out, this could be their last chance to raise significant funds from his transfer.

Real Betis are keen on bringing him back to the club as they look to reinforce their squad. Representatives of the Spanish club were in London more than a month ago to understand the economic conditions needed to complete this transfer.

With the player keen on returning to Spain, Betis are well-positioned to re-sign him. That said, they will need to make room for him in their wage bill by offloading one of their stars.
