'Club won’t be happy' – Dele Alli makes interesting top four claim about Tottenham
Witters Sport-USA TODAY Sports

Former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli believes Tottenham can still qualify for the Champions League.

Tottenham were dealt a significant blow to their top 4 aspirations this weekend as they were thrashed 4-0 by Newcastle.

It was one of the worst performances since Ange Postecoglou took over. Star summer signing Micky van de Ven had a game to forget as he was responsible for the first two goals, with Isak and Gordon embarrassing him to give the Magpies a quick double lead.

Isak then beat the Dutch defender with pace for his second and Newcastle’s third in the second half, before Fabian Schar sealed the win with a bullet header in the dying minutes of the game to win 4-0.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa beat Arsenal 2-0 away from home, restoring a 3 point gap between the two teams.

Spurs now sit 5th with 60 points but they have a game in hand which might work in their favour.

And Dele Alli, who was part of the Sky Sports team on Monday Night Football, has faith his former club to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Dele Alli says club won’t be happy with the top four

Dele was asked his thoughts on Tottenham under manager Ange Postecoglou and whether he thinks the Lilywhites can finish in the top four.

He said (via Football London):

“Yeah, I hope so. It’s a tough run of games but for me it’s been great.

“I don’t know how the Tottenham fans will see the season if they don’t finish in the top four, but for me watching, obviously having played for Tottenham and having a connection to the club, watching them play football and football I like to see Tottenham play, that for me is good but I know the club won’t be happy with the top four.”
