The time has come for AC Milan to start making the key decisions that will have a big impact on how the club looks heading into next season, a report has stated.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that the priority obviously remains the choice of a new head coach, but they must also plan operations to improve the squad such as signing a new cnetre-forward to replace the departing Olivier Giroud.

Joshua Zirkzee remains high on the list but there is strong competition for the Dutchman, in particular from Juventus and Arsenal, and therefore it will not be easy to get him especially given his €60m valuation.

For this reason, the Rossoneri management are keeping alive other options such as Benjamin Sesko of Leipzig, Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord and Jonathan David of Lille. Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart is on the list too, and he can move for €17.5m.

In addition to the head coach appointment and the striker signing, the next few weeks will also be very hot with regards to some contract renewals, in particular those of Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez.

The discussions will soon heat up but they promise to be quite complex given that both are asking for a significant increase in salary. There is no shortage of admirers for both of them around Europe, such as Bayern Munich and PSG.

In addition to their extensions, Milan will soon also have to negotiate with captain Davide Calabria, whose contract expires in a year. He too, like the two Frenchmen, expects a raise in his salary (he currently earns €2.2m net per year).
