Monday’s reports claim that Como will match the salary offered by Roma to head coach Cesc Fabregas in discussions over a new contract, following interest from the Giallorossi and Bayer Leverkusen in recent weeks.

Fabgregas had been linked with a move to take over from Claudio Ranieri at Roma at the end of the 2024-25 season. He had also been strongly linked with a move to take over from Xabi Alonso as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, but decided to stay, which led the Germans to pursue a deal for Erik ten Hag instead.

According to various reports, Fabregas is poised to continue the project he has started with Como, who finished the 2024-25 season in the top half of the Serie A table following their promotion from Serie B last term.

Reports Como will offer Fabregas €5m per season

Now, according to updates from Alfredo Pedulla, Como are prepared to offer Fabregas a salary increase with wages worth €5m per season in an attempt to fend off interest from other clubs.

That €5m per season figure is reportedly the same as what Roma had offered him to take over from Ranieri as head coach at the Stadio Olimpico.

Fabregas is already under contract until the summer of 2028.

Pedulla adds that Como are confident the 38-year-old will not leave for another club in Serie A, aside from Inter in the event that Simone Inzaghi decides to leave.
