Lautaro Martinez and Marko Arnautovic lead the way as Inter take on Giovanni Fabbian and Alexis Saelemaekers in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
It kicks off at San Siro at 20.00 GMT.
The tie will be decided tonight after 90 minutes, extra time or even penalties if required.
The winners will then go on to face Fiorentina in the quarter-final around January 10.
Inter have won the last two editions of the Coppa Italia and are going for a third, but Bologna sit fourth in Serie A and are one of the other form teams in Italy right now.
Simone Inzaghi rotates his squad to a degree, giving Davide Frattesi, Kristjan Asllani and Davy Klaassen rare starts, but Lautaro Martinez is partnered by ex-Bologna striker Arnautovic.
Alexis Sanchez, Denzel Dumfries, Juan Cuadrado and Stefan de Vrij are out of action, with Benjamin Pavard almost ready for his comeback.
Bologna are missing Riccardo Orsolini, Jesper Karlsson and Adama Soumaoro, but Alexis Saelemaekers and Inter-owned Giovanni Fabbian support Sydney van Hooijdonk.
When these sides met in Serie A back in October, Inter raced into a 2-0 lead after 13 minutes only to be pegged back for a 2-2 draw.
Inter: Audero; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Asllani, Klaassen, Carlos Augusto; Arnautovic, Lautaro Martinez
Bologna: Ravaglia; Corazza, Beukema, LucumÃ, Lykogiannis; Aebischer, Moro, Fabbian; Saelemaekers, Van Hooijdonk, Urbanski
