Could Leroy Sane make a return to Manchester City in a sensational homecoming? Since leaving the treble winners for Bayern Munich a section of City fans for the return of the German international. It has always seemed a fanciful notion that has appeared unlikely to eventuate. A recent report indicates that Manchester City may be interested in bringing Sane back to the Etihad.

Christian Falk reporting for Bild has reported that Manchester City and Liverpool have an interest in bringing the winger back to the Premier League. Also included in the Bild report is that Bayern Munich are keen to begin talks on a new contract for the German international. Falk adds that Sane’s current contract is due to expire in 2025.

Leroy Sane is always remembered fondly by City fans for his time at Manchester City. He formed a lethal combination out wide with Raheem Sterling as part of the Manchester City side which became the Centurions in the 2017/18 season. He left the club with two Premier League titles, three Carabao Cup winners medal and an FA Cup winners medal. Sane made 135 appearances scoring 39 goals and added 46 assists during his time at the Etihad.

It remains to be seen if City’s interest in the winger is concrete. He has matured as a player during his time at Bayern Munich. With Jeremy Doku thriving since arriving at the Etihad, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see Sane do similar.

The thought of Leroy Sane returning to the Etihad always excites Manchester City fans, it remains to be seen if another winger is on Manchester City’s summer shopping list.
