New Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu has so far proven to be a worthy successor to Simone Inzaghi.
However, according to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, there’s ample room for improvement.
Inter Milan accumulated 15 points from their first eight Serie A matches under Cristian Chivu.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri scored 19 goals and conceded 11 in that period.
Therefore, a lack of defensive resilience has emerged as a major flaw in Chivu’s system.
Simone Inzaghi fared better than Chivu in his first season at San Siro.
Indeed, he picked up 17 points in his opening eight league games in charge of the club, with only eight goals conceded.
Furthermore, Inzaghi amassed 17 points last season, with Inter only conceding nine goals in the process.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi’s slowest start came in 2022/23, when Inter racked up just 12 points from the first eight games.
They also conceded 13 goals that year en route to a third-place finish.
However, Inzaghi bounced back the following year, leading Inter to their landmark 20th Scudetto.
Moreover, the start was almost impeccable, with the Nerazzurri collecting 19 points in the first eight Serie A rounds.
