Cristiano Ronaldo could cost Manchester United Bruno Fernandes

Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with how things are going at Al-Nassr, and the Saudi Pro League giants – and even the government sporting enterprise as a whole – could be willing to get rid of one of the greatest players of all time.

The Al-Nassr superstar is currently on strike from the team and the league, and if he were to actually leave the Saudi Pro League in 2026, it could have consequences for big clubs around European football.

That’s because Ronaldo leaving the Saudi Pro League will push the country in to trying to sign away big stars from other European teams in order to replace the star power lost.

According to a report from Pete Hall of The iPaper Sport, the Saudi Pro League is ready to part ways with Cristiano Ronaldo if he were to demand a transfer this summer due to his issues with the league’s leadership.

And if he were to do so, per a source close to Hall within the Saudi Pro League itself, Saudi Arabia will look to sign marquee names in the Premier League like Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes to replace him.

Hall reports that there is a feeling within Manchester United that Fernandes, despite firing Ruben Amorim and replacing him with Michael Carrick, will indeed want summer 2026 to be his exit point from Old Trafford after dealing with years of upheaval and turmoil with so many managers.

The Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League rumors have been rampant for years, and while Fernandes has resisted them and Man United have obviously been uninterested in selling off their best player, the right offer from Saudi with all the money left over from his countryman Cristiano’s wages could tempt him – in addition to potential frustration with Man United, despite the apparent improvements under Carrick.
