Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo led his side to yet another victory, as he scored the lone goal in the club’s 1-0 win over Al-Fahya in the AFC Champions League knock-out stages. This match was his 1000th club appearance, and Ronaldo also secured his first goal of 2024.

Ronaldo has forged multiple records, throughout his career spanning two decades. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner started out at Sporting CP, moving to Manchester United. He then rose to fame during his time at Real Madrid, where he won four UCL titles. Regarded as one of the greatest players ever, Ronaldo holds the record for most goals and assists in the UCL.

Collectively, the former Real Madrid star has won 33 senior trophies in his career, which includes five UCL titles, three Premier League titles, two the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles, two Serie A titles and three FIFA Club World Cups. Representing the Portuguese national side, he led the team to a historic UEFA European Championship title in 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores in 23rd consecutive year, maintaining his goal-scoring streak since 2002

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the year 2024, against Al-Fahya in the AFC Champions League round of 16. This extends his remarkable streak of scoring at least one goal annually for 23 consecutive years since 2002.

Since 2002, the 39-year-old forward has scored a goal each year he has played in the top-flight. He kicked off his goal-scoring tally on 7 October 2002, when he scored two goals for Sporting CP in a match. He experienced remarkable seasons at United, notably excelling in the 2007-08 campaign with 42 goals in 49 appearances. Throughout his career, Ronaldo has maintained an impressive average of 0.72 goals per game.

His time at Real Madrid was noteworthy, with him scoring 53 goals in 2010-11, 60 goals in 2011-12 and 61 goals in 2014-15. This season too the player has been in stellar form, with him scoring 31 goals in 32 matches. He ended 2023 as the world’s leading goal-scorer.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 874th career goal, in 1000th club appearance

Playing for Al-Nassr in the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League, Ronaldo scored his 874th goal in his 1000th appearances for any club. Other than that, the Portuguese star is also the all-time highest international goalscorer.

Back in November 2022, Ronaldo became the first player to score 800 top-flight career goals (club and country combined). He achieved this feat during an EPL encounter against Arsenal. Out of the total number of goals, 746 goals have been scored by Ronaldo at the club level.

Moreover, football pundits exclaimed that Ronaldo’s goal-scoring records are massive, and would be difficult for any player to reach up to. To approach Ronaldo’s record, a player would need to score 50 goals per season consistently for 17 seasons. However, even achieving this remarkable feat would leave the player 14 goals short of Ronaldo’s mark.
