Cristiano Ronaldo moves into MMA

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time, with five Ballon d’Or awards and 954 goals for club and country to his name.

However, the Portugal international is looking like he’s getting closer to the end of his playing days, even suggesting he may call time after the 2026 World Cup.

While Ronaldo hasn’t expressed any interest in jumping straight into punditry or coaching, a new venture has seemingly opened up for attacker, in a completely different sport.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now announced that he’s getting involved in MMA as a shareholder of WOW FC.

Taking to X, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star commented: “I’m excited to share some big news: I will become a shareholder of @wowfcmma! We share values I truly believe in – discipline, respect, resilience, and the constant pursuit of excellence.

He continued: “WOW FC is building something unique and powerful, and I’m proud to join this project to help elevate the sport and inspire the next generation.”

Linking to a press release, the global MMA brand announced: “- WOW FC proudly announces that Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most influential and admired athletes on the planet, will become a shareholder of the company.”

It continued: “His entry marks a defining milestone for WOW FC and a transformative moment for the future of mixed martial arts worldwide.”

The brand believes that Ronaldo’s invovlement will “accelerate WOW’s global expansion and reinforce its mission to make MMA a mainstream cultural movement across Europe, LATAM, the Middle East, and beyond — influencing not only the sports world, but also culture, fashion, entertainment, and education.”

There’s no doubt that Ronaldo is one of the biggest names in the world, so having his name attached is bound to boost the brand’s global image.

However, the full extent of how much of the brand he now owns remains unknown.
