Cristiano Ronaldo is currently focused on Portugal’s FIFA World Cup campaign.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is continuing to make history on the international stage.

The former Manchester United forward recently became the first player ever to score in six different World Cups after netting twice in Portugal’s 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan.

However, it has not all been straightforward for Roberto Martinez’s side.

Portugal opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo before being held to a goalless stalemate by Colombia in their third group game.

Attention will now turn towards a crucial Round of 32 clash against Croatia, which kicks off at midnight UK time on July 3.

While Ronaldo remains focused on international duty, developments continue away from the tournament involving one of the clubs which he has invested.

Ronaldo-backed Almeria sign Quim Junyent

UD Almeria have confirmed on their website that they have completed the signing of midfielder Quim Junyent on a long-term contract running until 2032.

The 19-year-old arrives on a free transfer after captaining Spain’s Under-19 side and progressing through Barcelona’s renowned academy system.

Junyent primarily operates as a central midfielder and is regarded as one of Spain’s most promising young talents.

Despite only making seven appearances for Barcelona Atletic, the teenager impressed throughout his time in the youth ranks.

He contributed with two goals and three assists during the 2024/25 season for Barcelona’s Under-19s.

As previously covered by Centre Devils, Cristiano Ronaldo acquired a 25 per cent stake in Almeria earlier this year.

It is safe to say that he has significantly increased the global interest in the club.

The ambitious Spanish side have already started strengthening ahead of the new campaign.

Their first signing of the summer window was DR Congo international Brian Cipenga, who impressed at the World Cup and scored during his nation’s Round of 32 defeat to England yesterday.

After narrowly missing out on promotion to La Liga last season, Almeria are expected to continue investing heavily as they look to secure a return to Spain’s top flight.

Junyent’s arrival represents another significant addition as the Ronaldo-backed project continues to gather momentum.
