Cristiano Ronaldo shatters world record with new YouTube channel

Cristiano Ronaldo launched a new YouTube channel on Wednesday, and it took less than 90 minutes for the platform, titled "UR," to reach the one million subscriber mark.

The channel reportedly became the fastest to reach the seven-figure subscriber count. YouTube sent the Portugal legend a plaque commemorating the milestone, a video of which he shared via X.

In his introductory video, Ronaldo said the platform would allow him to talk not just soccer, but his other passions, such as "family, nutrition, wellness, preparation, recovery, education and business." The Al Nassr forward also confirmed the presence of several guests routinely.

"I'm so excited to bring this project to life," Ronaldo said. "It's been on my mind for a long time, but we finally have the opportunity to make it a reality. I've always enjoyed having such a strong connection with my fans on social media, and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so, and they'll get to know more about me, my family and my views on so many different topics. I'm also looking forward to sharing conversations with guests who will undoubtedly surprise people!"

As of this writing, the YouTube channel has already amassed over 16.5 million followers and counting. Ronaldo has also broken popular content creator Mr. Beast's record for fastest to 10 million subscribers.

Ronaldo is the most followed person on social media, with nearly 918 million followers across all platforms. However, he still has a ways to go before catching Mr. Beast's 311 million subscribers on YouTube. It's safe to say he's got a head start on launch day. For now, his YouTube channel has 12 short videos, most of which feature his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, and their children.
