Jean-Philippe Mateta is one of the names that has been linked to Manchester United as a potential target.

Mateta, who currently plays for Crystal Palace, has made 167 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 53 times.

Meanwhile, for the French national team, the striker has featured three times and has scored two goals.

With this in mind, his record as a striker arguably can not be understated.

Meanwhile, these statistics may explain why the striker was recently shortlisted by Manchester United for a January 2026 move to Old Trafford.

As well as this, in comparison to Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko in the Premier League this season, Mateta has scored eight times, outscoring both Cunha’s (4) and Sesko’s (2) figures.

Therefore, the argument can be made that a move to Manchester United would help increase the depth and quality of the options in the striker position and aid United in their push towards the top four.

Now, a new asking price has been revealed with Crystal Palace increasing it in comparison to their last quoted figure.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on his official Pateron page, the Eagles would accept an offer of £50 million for the striker in this transfer window.

Furthermore, Nixon has also revealed that Palace are currently looking at alternatives if Jean-Philippe Mateta was to leave the club.

Prior to this update emerging, Crystal Palace had quoted interested clubs with a figure of £40 million for the striker although rejected offers near £50 million in recent transfer windows.

Now, fans may look towards United to see if they take advantage of Mateta being available.

But, with Ruben Amorim receiving news that the possibility of new signings is low this January, the chances of a successful deal can be said to be low currently.
