Liverpool have plenty of top players on their books, but they might not need to spend big to unearth their next standout talent.

The Reds took a bold approach in the summer transfer window, bringing in Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for hefty fees.

Both arrived with big expectations, though neither has fully settled just yet.

Still, there is no question about the talent they bring, even if the impact has not quite shown up yet. But when it comes to pure skill, Liverpool might already have someone who stands out even more – at least according to Curtis Jones.

Jones has always been one of the most naturally talented players in the squad, and his game continues to evolve.

Given his background in the club’s academy, Jones’ insights into young talent carry plenty of weight.

Having seen Rio Ngumoha both with the youth set-up and now training alongside him with the senior team, the No. 17 believes he could be on his way to something special.

“I’ll probably say Rio [Ngumoha], you know?” the midfielder said when asked for the most skilful player at Liverpool for a TikTok on the JDOfficial account.

“I see him every day in training. I remember the first day when he came in I was like ‘woah’. He’s just shown it every day so I’ll probably say him.”

Why Rio Ngumoha might be the spark Liverpool need

Liverpool have looked sluggish lately, lacking creativity and becoming far too predictable. Ngumoha is the kind of player who can change that with his unpredictability and ability to get fans out of their seats.

While it is too soon for him to be starting regularly, he certainly deserves more opportunities from the bench. Just six minutes across Liverpool’s last eight matches does not seem right for a player with his potential.

Giving him 20 minutes at the end of games could make a real difference. It is something Arne Slot should consider, especially as pressure grows to find solutions quickly.
