Daniel Levy plans to make a marquee summer signing after Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League success

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is on the brink, as his sacking would not be stunning after what’s happened in the Premier League this past season, where his team lost 22 times.

Spurs made history by lifting their first title in 17 years last week, winning the UEFA Europa League by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final at the San Mames Stadium. Having secured Champions League qualification for next season, the club could now attract top talents across the world.

They are set to get an injection of cash following their return to the Champions League, which should help the Lilywhites land their targets. Tottenham will be eager to build on the Europa League triumph by upgrading their squad, as preparations are made for next term.

Now, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Daniel Levy is ready to show ambition in the forthcoming summer transfer window and make a marquee signing after Ange Postecoglou and Co. ended the club’s 17-year-long trophy drought. He and the influential decision-makers were involved in an internal meeting to map out exciting transfer targets earlier this week.

The North Londoners’ £20.9million of the budget will be spent on Kevin Danso, due to the club having inserted an obligation clause when signing him on loan from RC Lens during the winter transfer window. There is also £45million option to sign Mathys Tel permanently from Bayern Munich, although the Hotspur Way chiefs are reportedly planning to renegotiate it and secure him at a lower fee.

The aforementioned report adds that Tottenham have considered accelerated their pursuit of Manchester City star Jack Grealish and Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, even though it is likely that they would have to make either ‘their club-record signing in order to get the deal over the line’.

Eze has a £68million release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park, which will become active when the transfer window officially reopens, but the Lilywhites are set to face intense competition from Premier League rivals for his signature if they decide to push ahead with their plans of luring him to N17. Meanwhile, Grealish’s high wage demands could prove a major obstacle for the North Londoners to overcome, so Levy will need to show ambition if he intends to sign the treble winner with Man City.

Spurs have failed to replace Harry Kane since his departure to Bayern Munich in 2023, and they arguably need a better centre-forward than Dominic Solanke to lead their attack in the 2025/26 season. They smashed their club record on Solanke last summer but the striker’s goal return has been average. Son Heung-min will turn 33 in July, and it wouldn’t make sense for our club to rely on him going forward, considering his dip in form and fitness levels.

Plus, there is constant speculation surrounding the future of Cristian Romero, and if he departs this summer, Levy has to bring in a quality centre-back to replace him. Tottenham cannot shirk from their responsibility of bolstering their squad after winning the Europa League, and a statement signing looks on the cards now.
