David Beckham officially makes first 2026 signing

Sir David Beckham’s evolution from an East London prodigy to a global sporting patriarch reached its apex in late 2025, cementing his status as perhaps the most influential figure in modern football history.

His legendary playing career began at Manchester United, where he made 394 appearances, scored 85 goals, and famously won the 1999 Treble.

Over his 21-year career, he became the first Englishman to win league titles in four countries: England (6 Premier League titles), Spain (1 La Liga with Real Madrid), the USA (2 MLS Cups with LA Galaxy), and France (1 Ligue 1 with PSG).

In total, he retired in 2013 with 19 major trophies and 115 England caps to his name.

In November 2025, this storied legacy was officially recognised at Windsor Castle, where he was knighted by King Charles III for services to sport and charity.

History was made on December 6, 2025, when Inter Miami defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3–1 to claim their first-ever MLS Cup.

This victory allowed Sir David to break a unique record, becoming the first person in history to win the MLS Cup as both a player and an owner.

Now formally known as Sir David Beckham, he has seamlessly transitioned from the pitch to the boardroom as the primary face of Inter Miami CF.

Inter Miami CF have officially bolstered their backline with the addition of Argentine defender Facundo Mura, as the reigning MLS Cup champions continue to build their roster for the 2026 campaign, which they announced on the official website of the MLS.

The 26-year-old fullback joins the South Florida club on a free transfer following a successful stint in his native Argentina with Racing Club.

He tallied 12 goals and 15 assists across 148 appearances, showcasing an attacking threat that fits the dynamic style favoured by Inter Miami.

As Inter Miami looks to defend their title and navigate a demanding 2026 schedule, Mura’s championship experience and versatility are expected to provide crucial depth and quality to the defensive unit.
