David Raum offered to Manchester United

David Raum has been offered to Manchester United as the club consider whether to add another left-back before the summer transfer window closes.

According to The Sun, the RB Leipzig defender has been presented as an option to United in the closing stages of the window after featuring for Germany at the World Cup.

United have already looked at several left-back options this summer, with Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Alejandro Balde among the names linked with moves to Old Trafford.

Raum would offer a far more experienced alternative.

The 28-year-old is Leipzig captain and has also accumulated 39 senior appearances for Germany, having previously represented his country at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.

His contract with Leipzig runs until 2027, meaning the Bundesliga side are approaching a point where a decision over his long-term future may have to be made.

What David Raum could bring to Manchester United

Raum is primarily a left-back but has also spent significant periods operating further forward as a left-sided midfielder, giving Michael Carrick another player capable of covering multiple roles on that flank.

Tactically, his biggest strength is his attacking output from wide areas.

Raum is extremely willing to overlap, deliver crosses early and play longer passes into dangerous areas.

His numbers from last season underline that profile.

David Raum created 96 chances, 22 big chances and 87 successful crosses across the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign, while he also registered three goals and seven assists.

Raum is also a recognised set-piece specialist.

Crossing, key passes and dead-ball delivery are among his strongest attributes, which could add another creative outlet to United’s squad.

He has already shown that quality on the international stage, notably assisting Niclas Fullkrug’s late equaliser against Switzerland at Euro 2024, before starting Germany’s knockout matches against Denmark and Spain.

Raum also brings winning experience, having lifted the DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup with Leipzig, while he was previously named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
