Daniele De Rossi is increasingly likely to be the new coach of Parma, as interest in Paolo Vanoli and Raffaele Palladino never really progressed.
The Ducali were forced to seek another tactician after Cristian Chivu walked away to replace Simone Inzaghi on the Inter bench.
As for De Rossi, he was still smarting after the abrupt Roma dismissal in September 2024, just four rounds into the new season.
He had hoped to be considered for the Italy job following the sacking of Luciano Spalletti, but that is going to his fellow 2006 World Cup winner Gennaro Gattuso instead.
Cremonese had also kept an eye on the former midfielder, but are in a state of flux following victory in the Serie B promotion play-offs.
Parma looked at a few candidates, including ex-Torino boss Vanoli and former Fiorentina coach Palladino, but they did not go beyond initial conversations.
De Rossi only retired from playing in January 2020 and started out as part of Roberto Mancini’s Italy staff.
He had a brief spell in charge of SPAL from October 2022 to February 2023, then lasted 30 matches at Roma.
