Sky Sport Italia claim Inter are back in talks with Genoa for Koni De Winter, keeping him on stand-by in case they sell either Benjamin Pavard or Yann Bisseck.

The interest in the player stretches back to May, when the first approach had been made to understand the feasibility of the move.

They had then seemingly put it on the back burner while focusing on other priorities to strengthen the squad for Cristian Chivu.

Why Inter are leaning towards De Winter

Now that Premier League interest continues in Bisseck and there have also been suggestions of a possible exit for Pavard, they are tracking back to Genoa.

Sky Sport Italia report that new talks took place on Friday, with De Winter locked down and warned to be ready in case of developments.

They hope he will hold out and wait for them, stalling the interest from Bournemouth.

The other main candidate for that role is Giovanni Leoni of Parma, but the competition for the 18-year-old is fierce from Milan and Liverpool.

At age 23, De Winter has a lot more experience and can be cheaper than the €40m Leoni.
