Gian Piero Gasperini will meet with Atalanta president Antonio Percassi today to discuss the plans for the future as he looks to decide whether to stay in Bergamo or make the jump to Napoli.

The 66-year-old Italian tactician made history on Wednesday night at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, when he guided la Dea to their first ever European title and their first trophy in six decades with a thrilling 3-0 win over Xabi Alonso’s high-flying Bayer Leverkusen.

Gasperini has been with Atalanta for eight years and has been named as one of the leading candidates to take on the Napoli job in the summer, with Aurelio De Laurentiis seriously interested in hiring the attacking-minded tactician.

Decisive days for Gasperini

Page two of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Gasperini will meet with Atalanta president Percassi in the coming hours to discuss the club’s future plans, his ambitions and if conditions are right to move forward together.

The coach is hoping to see two or three top players arrive in the summer transfer window, as well as avoid losing any key players in the squad. He is keen to try and compete with the teams at the top in Serie A, having strong ambitions following the Europa League success.

Napoli are keeping a close eye on the situation, waiting to see if they can convince Gasperini to make the move south to the Campania capital.
