Denis Bouanga Silences Doubts About Son Heung-Min’s LAFC Move With One Bold Line

Heung-min Son has left Tottenham in the summer transfer window and is set to join LAFC for the remainder of the season — initially. With Olivier Giroud departing the club, Son is expected to become a key figure in the final third alongside Denis Bouanga, who didn’t hold back when asked about the former Spurs star’s arrival.

Contract details haven’t been revealed, but Son is reportedly signing a standard two-year MLS deal, typical for players arriving mid-season.

Before landing Son, LAFC made an attempt to sign Antoine Griezmann, but the French forward chose to stay at Atletico Madrid. Now, Son will partner with Bouanga in LAFC’s attack.

Speaking after LAFC’s first-round League’s Cup match against Pachuca, Bouanga made it clear: Son’s arrival will be a game-changer.

"He's a star in the Premier League, and he will be a star in the MLS. That will make things easy to play with him. That will be a great thing." - Bouanga said.

The player compared the level of MLS to that of the Premier League — suggesting Heung-min Son will have an easier time adapting to the North American league than he did in England’s top flight.

There were also rumors linking Son to Turkish side Galatasaray, but that deal never materialized. LAFC moved quickly and made an offer to bring the South Korean star to MLS.

Son Left Tottenham With Legend Status

The winger didn’t want to be called a Spurs legend without first winning a title with the club. That changed in the final game of the season — the Conference League final — which also marked his farewell. In a post-match interview, he finally embraced the legend status he had earned.
