Inter and Milan are in the hunt for their next goalie, and both have laid eyes on Noah Atubolu, who’s shining at Freiburg. His contract runs out in 2027. His team will have a decision to make next summer, unless they convince him to sign an extension, Matteo Moretto reports (via Calciomercato).
The youngster has appeared 94 times, allowing 137 goals and keeping 33 clean sheets. He has 22 caps with Germany U-21, while he has yet to debut with the senior team.
Inter and Milan would have to tussle with a few Bundesliga sides to sign Atubolu. His price tag is about €20M. The Nerazzurri have been linked to a few options to succeed Yann Sommer, most recently Guglielmo Vicario. He’s on their list, but their ownership would rather invest in youngsters, as they have successfully done in recent windows.
The negotiation between the Rossoneri and Mike Maignan will go down to the wire, but the parties are on polar terms. According to Mediaset, the brass has offered €5M per year, while the goalie and his camp have asked for €8M annually. Per TuttoSport (via MSN), the officials have added Andriy Lunin to their future shortlist. He’s represented by agent Jorge Mendes, with whom they have concocted a few deals.
La Beneamata has a strong track record with talents, but they should perhaps make an exception for a particularly unforgiving role. They tend to be successful when they really like and want someone, as they have the privilege of planning ahead, unlike many other clubs. Perhaps the Rossoneri will emerge as a landing spot for Vicario later on.
