It would be fair to say that Venezia head coach Eusebio Di Francesco was not best pleased after his side were beaten 2-0 by AC Milan.
Milan were perhaps not as impressive as in their derby win over Inter in midweek, but when Christian Pulisic scored after just four minutes things were instantly a lot easier to manage.
After several wasted counter-attacks in the second half, the Rossoneri put the game to bed in the closing seconds as Santiago Gimenez latched onto a ball over the top from Tijjani Reijnders and lobbed the goalkeeper.
A top four or even top five finish still seem to be out of the question, but it is important to build good momentum going into the Coppa Italia final next month, in which a Europa League spot will be on the line.
Di Francesco spoke to DAZN and in his post-match press conference after the game and he was visibly unhappy with the officiating and the outcome of the game. MilanNews relayed his comments.
A penalty was not awarded for the contact between Pavlovic and Yeboah…
“While I was watching the episode again I thought that he would have called it if it were in midfield. In fact he called the foul of the second with Theo who tends to fall a bit easily. In this situation here both the arm and the foot… You can’t not go and watch it again and not give a penalty.
“I never talk about the refereeing, but we are playing for something very important which is our survival. In my opinion there is a lack of respect towards us. A superficial refereeing. But what do you have to do to give a penalty?
