Tottenham forward Richarlison has lost his way at N17 following a high-profile switch from Everton in 2022. The Brazil international has just not got going and has failed to force his way into the starting eleven during his time at Hotspur Way. The 28-year-old arrived at North London with a lot of expectations, but it is fair to suggest that he has failed to replicate the form he showed during his time with the Toffees.
A lot of Spurs fans still sympathise with the forward due to the injury issues he has faced in the last few years. But the time is right for the North London club to cash in on Richarlison as the Lilywhites look to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank. The Brazil international has time and again proved that he cannot be trusted to provide cover for Dominic Solanke for most parts of the season.
As per Sofascore, Richarlison featured in 24 games in all competitions last season, registering five goals and two assists during that time. These are not impressive numbers for a player that is fighting hard to be the main striker for a top six team. Fans will agree that the time is right to cash-in on the 28-year-old in the summer and replace him with a better striker heading into next season.
It looks certain that the end of the road is nearing for Richarlison at N17. The Brazil international has not lived up to expectations and Daniel Levy is looking to cash-in on the 28-year-old in the summer. It was reported earlier that the Brazilian is attracting interest from clubs around the world, including a few Turkish clubs. The decision rests on the Lilywhites, as they look to generate funds from selling a few players for new arrivals.
However, ex-Watford star Troy Deeney has warned the linked clubs to stay away from Richarlison in the summer. Speaking on The Fellas podcast, Deeney said,
“I think a little bit of the Richarlison we had [at Watford] has died with the money, which is fine. It’s complacency, we all get like that. He was unbelievable, goes to Everton and did well, but went to Spurs and suffered injuries and little bits like the tattoos…”
Troy Deeney has suggested that Richarlison has lost his focus since he made the high-profile move to Tottenham. The ex-Watford star believes that the Brazil international has become complacent at N17 due to the high money involved during his transfer. Deeney also pointed out that the 28-year-old was ‘unbelievable’ during his time at Watford, but has just not got going at Spurs due to the injury issues he has endured in recent years.
There is still a possibility that Thomas Frank ends up keeping the ex-Everton star at N17 for next season. The Danish tactician prefers to play with two strikers up top, and Richarlison would benefit by that due to his strong link-up play with the wingers and his strike partner. The 28-year-old prefers to drop deep and get involved in the build-up, and that might prove to be effective under the Spurs boss.
