Manchester United’s search for their next permanent manager is ongoing as the club looks for someone who can bring the club prolonged success.

The club, who sacked Ruben Amorim at the start of this year, have been managed by Michael Carrick since.

Whilst a good start had been established by Carrick, spanning five wins and a single draw across his six games in charge, new names continue to be linked with the permanent role which will be decided in the coming months.

One name that has been linked with the role is Gareth Southgate, who had been included on a shortlist directly after Ruben Amorim was sacked.

However, Southgate looked to close these rumours down with him not expressing a desire to return to the Premier League once more.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner has been linked with the role and has fuelled speculation by confirming his departure from Crystal Palace at the end of the current campaign.

Now, according to Manchester Evening News, Diego Simeone has emerged as an underlying candidate for the Manchester United managerial vacancy.

Simeone has been a long-term manager at LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid with the Argentine guiding the side to two Europa League titles, a Super Cup, and a Copa Del Rey amongst other trophies.

Meanwhile, he has managed over 700 games for the Spanish outfit with an average of two points per game, an impressive figure considering the time he has been at the club.

With the link between Diego Simeone and Manchester United now made, supporters could turn their attention towards the media to see if further links are made between the two.

Meanwhile, fans may also turn their attention towards Spain to see if Diego Simeone comments on the links between himself and a move to Old Trafford.
