Erik ten Hag will be Manchester United’s boss at least until the end of 2026. The Dutchman put pen to paper after a significant period of time during which his position was ‘up for grabs’. Despite conducting several ‘interviews’ for potential replacements, United’s new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe opted to keep his trust in the 54-year-old.
Even though fans labeled the treatment of the manager as ‘disrespectful’, Ten Hag has had no difficulty in accepting his new role at the club. His extension meant that the manager would have a reduced role in the club’s behavior in the transfer market. Recently, Ratcliffe opened up about how he really felt about Erik ten Hag and his tenure at the club.
Erik is a good guy and had been doing his best, but doing too much. He was trying to sort out the squad and fix leaks in the roof at the same time. Sir Jim Ratcliffe told The Sunday Times

The businessman also added that there still remains a void left by the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and managing director David Gill.
The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market this season. From signing Leny Yoro to finalizing terms with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, their squad looks much prepared than before to take on the new season. However, one of the most significant deals the club manoeuvred was the extension of club captain Bruno Fernandes.
With the Portuguese midfielder’s current deal set to expire in 2026, he will now be at the club till 2027, with an option to extend. From earning £220,000 per week in his previous contract, the club have decided to give the 29-year-old a significant hike in salary. His new wage will stand at a whopping £350,000 per week, making him the highest earner at Manchester United alongside Marcus Rashford .

His new deal has managed to put aside any remaining doubt regarding his stay with the Red Devils after hinting at uncertainty regarding the same earlier. Despite the underwhelming result in the Community Shield, there is no doubt whatsoever that the club will find its feet in games to come.
