Milan and Flamengo have a verbal agreement in place over the sale of right-back Emerson Royal after a last-minute hijack halted the Brazilian’s move to Besiktas in its tracks.
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri and Flamengo are exchanging the necessary documents to complete a permanent transfer worth a fee of €9m.
The Brazilian side already have an agreement in place on personal terms with the former Tottenham defender, who joined Milan for a fee of €15m plus up to €2m in add-ons last summer.
Flamengo have moved quickly to complete a deal for the 26-year-old.
Emerson had been on the verge of joining Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on loan with a possible option to buy, but Flamengo decided to attempt a last-minute hijack, which resulted in Besiktas walking away from the negotiating table.
Emerson’s expected move to Flamengo could also clear the path for Wesley Franca to leave the Brazilian club and join Roma in a deal worth €25m plus €5m in add-ons.
