Dutch pundit Sjoerd Mossou has questioned the value of Jordan Henderson to Ajax.

The former Liverpool captain has had an underwhelming start to his Eredvisie career.

Mossou, referring to Henderson's record shirt sales, wrote for AD: "A supporter who prides itself on the beauty of the game, who have seen the most incomparable players in the last sixty years - from Johan Cruijff to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and from Dennis Bergkamp to Hakim Ziyech - now ran in polonaise to the fanshop for a jersey of a player as average as a sunny house.

"Henderson is just about everything, except a typical Ajax player: a rock-solid controller who is roughly a cross between Mark van Bommel and Timmy Simons, but with a sweet Northern English accent.

"We are about three weeks later and everything has calmed down again. Henderson appears to be exactly the football player he has been all his life: just a football player. Ajax is still just as hopelessly lost as in the months before.

"That poor boy can't help it that he was suddenly elevated to the new Supreme God of the Sons of the Gods. But please remain yourself a little. Keep your head up, boys, and puff your chest out. A submissive, humble Ajax is of no use to anyone."
