Tottenham star Heung-Min Son is facing an uncertain future at N17

Tottenham star Heung-Min Son has attracted a lot of media attention in recent weeks as doubts regarding his future at N17 hover around N17. The South Korea international has seen it all during his time in North London. And it is fair to say that the 32-year-old has become a fan favourite during his decade-long stay at Hotspur Way following his switch from Bayer Leverkusen.

From coming third in a two-horse race for the Premier League title in his first season at N17, to losing the Champions League final at hands of Liverpool… the Spurs No.7 experienced a lot of heartaches and near misses. And the same could have happened this season as well after the club exceeded all expectations to reach the Europa League final.

But fate had other plans and Heung-Min Son finally managed to win his first major trophy while donning the Lilywhite jersey. Winning European silverware seems to be the perfect crowning moment for the 32-year-old as he etches his name in the club’s history books.

Tottenham star Heung-Min Son set to stay until pre-season ends

There have been a lot of questions marks around Heung-Min Son’s future at N17. The South Korea international is heavily linked with a Saudi move and it looks like Spurs will cash-in on the 32-year-old if a suitable offer comes in. The ex-Leverkusen forward is also willing to test himself in a new environment following a successful end to the campaign.

However, The Times reports that Tottenham are contractually obligated to retain the South Korean for the pre-season game against Newcastle in his home country. Now, as per Bryan King, the Lilywhites are set to earn over £1m through this agreement. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,

“A lot of the writing about Son has been premature. He hasn’t publicly stated that he wants to leave. However, if he is contractually obliged to feature in Spurs’ pre-season tour of Asia, then this needs to be honoured. Son will add plenty of intrigue to Spurs’ match with Newcastle in South Korea.”

The ex-Spurs scout added,

“Everyone will be coming to watch the game for him, I’m sure. Tottenham are going to make big money from this friendly thanks to Son. They will earn well over £1million from this match.”

Bryan King has suggested that rumours linking Heung-Min Son away from Tottenham are not true. The ex-scout added that Spurs will honour the contract that states Son must play a pre-season game in his home country before the start of the season. King added that a lot of fans will come to watch the 32-year-old and the Lilywhites will earn more than £1million from this game through ticket and merchandise sales.

Heung-Min Son will always remain a club legend regardless of what happens in the future. While many fans want the South Korean to see out his contract at N17, some believe that it is the right time for the 32-year-old to leave as he will end his Spurs career on a high note following the Europa League success.
