England clears Premier League for June 1 return

Germany's Bundesliga isn't the only league that'll return in the weeks ahead. England has cleared the Premier League for a June 1 return, according to ESPN.

England's Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a roadmap Sunday to ease lockdown restrictions, and that included sporting events to be played behind closed doors.

The Premier League is set to vote on whether or not the season will resume in the coming days, but there's been no consensus on which way things are leaning.

However, players are training again while abiding by social distancing guidelines, so it seems like they'll want to return for the remainder of the season.

Liverpool sits firmly atop the league standings with 82 points, and here's how things look for the most serious contenders in the league:

  1. Liverpool: 27-1-1, 82 points
  2. Manchester City, 18-3-7, 57 points
  3. Leicester City: 16-5-8, 53 points
  4. Chelsea: 14-6-9, 48 points
  5. Manchester United: 12-9-8, 45 points

While Liverpool is undeniably the favorite, it would be nice to see the season resume and where things go.

Bundesliga is set to return this month, and they'll likely set the stage for what's to come in the sports world.
