England vs. Spain Starting Lineups, Preview

England host newly-crowned world champions Spain tonight at Wembley Stadium in a huge UEFA Nations League opener. 

This Group A3 fixture kicks off at 7:45 PM BST (2:45 PM ET in the USA) and marks the first post-World Cup match for both teams after their summer campaigns in North America.

Spain arrive in London as the newly crowned 2026 FIFA World Cup champions, having beaten Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final. England, finished third at the tournament after losing 2-1 to Argentina in the semifinals before defeating France 6-4 in the third-place playoff.

The meeting also renews one of European football’s recent rivalries. England and Spain last met in the Euro 2024 final, when La Roja secured a 2-1 victory thanks to Mikel Oyarzabal’s late winner.

Both teams now begin their 2026-27 Nations League campaigns in Group A3, alongside Croatia and Czechia. The top two teams in the group will advance to the quarter-finals, adding importance to every point collected during the league phase.

Thomas Tuchel heads into the Wembley clash with a depleted squad after several players withdrew from the England camp. Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Tino Livramento are among the absentees.

James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White were called up as replacements.
