According to a brand new report from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Enzo Maresca have agreed to part ways with official confirmation coming soon. This comes just weeks after crypic comments from the Italian about the worst 48 hours in the job left him feeling unsupported. After a run leaving his side with just one league win from six as they’ve slid down the table, the relationship has become untenable.

A Success Story?

After being hand picked to make the move up from Leicester City in the Championship, Maresca’s first term with the Blues can be looked at as a success. Not only did he navigate them back to the Champions League but he also won the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup, with the domination of Paris Saint-Germain in the final being a defining game for the Clearlake ownership’s era.

His second term has had similar notable moments like the win over Barcelona as major European clashes made their way back to Stamford Bridge for the men’s side.

Poor Form & Tension

This month has seen the wheels come off to an extent with the team currently looking very shakey in defense, losing to Leeds, drawing with a dismal Bournemouth, and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Aston Villa. The draw with Arsenal that had them firmly in the top 3 looks like a long distant memory.

Things brewed over publicly after a win over Everton when Maresca used a question about Malo Gusto to air a grievance about his worst 48 hours on the job, as he felt a lack of support following some iffy results. Since then, things have only gone south with the pressure ramping up after the draw with the Cherries.

Per Romano, official statements will come soon to confirm the separation as Chelsea once again find themselves on the lookout for a new head coach.
