Eric Garcia is ready to return Barcelona this summer following a season long loan at Girona.

The Spanish international has played a key role at their Catalan neighbours in 2023/24 by helping them to a first ever UEFA Champions League qualification spot.

30 La Liga appearances in the campaign is more than any previous season at Barcelona with rumours over a possible stay at Girona.

The loan agreement does not include a purchase clause, but Girona are keen to retain Garcia, with the club’s stance of ‘difficult, but not impossible’ to retain the 23-year-old.

Garcia’s current Barcelona contract runs until 2026, with La Blaugrana valuing him at around €15-20m, if they do look to sell.

The managerial change at Barcelona will delay any signings or sales but Garcia could be moved on to raise funds.

However, the former Manchester City centre back confirmed his initial plan is to return to Barcelona, and wait for the club to make a decision on his next move.

“I’ve always said it. I have a contract with Barcelona, I will return there and then see what happens”, as per reports from Mundo Deportivo.
