Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is on the market this summer, but a move back to Erik ten Hag’s side now seems unlikely.
Ruben Amorim has decided to shake up Manchester United’s attacking lineup. Matheus Cunha was brought in earlier in the window and remains the only new addition so far. To make room for further signings, United are expected to part ways with some current players.

Amorim is reportedly open to letting several forwards leave, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony — all of whom returned from loan spells. Alejandro Garnacho has also been told he can go, with the Argentine likely to leave before the window closes.
Garnacho is unlikely to be short of options this summer. While his output remains a bit inconsistent, he offers plenty of pace, dribbling ability and clear potential.
United will be hoping for a decent fee, but one club appears to be moving on from the chase.
Back in May, there were reports that Bayer Leverkusen were interested in bringing him in, with new manager Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion.
Garnacho had started to show real promise under Ten Hag’s management and Wirtz’s move left Leverkusen weighing up a move for the 21-year-old.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘currently no chance’ of Leverkusen landing Garnacho.
The financial side may well be an issue here. Leverkusen are typically cautious with their spending and this deal might not fit within their usual approach.
Instead, they appear to have shifted focus towards PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko. Romano has noted a ‘genuine interest’ from the German club in the Belgian winger.
With just over a month until the Premier League season kicks off, Garnacho’s next move remains up in the air and it doesn’t look like it’ll be to Germany.
Bakayoko has made a name for himself at PSV, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising wingers with his play in the Eredivisie.
The 22-year-old scored 12 goals across all competitions last season, following up on an impressive 2023-24 campaign that saw him record 14 goals and 14 assists.
Ten Hag’s interest shouldn’t come as a shock, given that United were also linked with Bakayoko during his time in charge.
Back in December 2023, there were reports of United monitoring Bakayoko, though nothing came of it before Ten Hag’s departure.
Now at Leverkusen, Ten Hag could finally bring Bakayoko into his plans, while United continue to look for a destination for Garnacho.
