Erik ten Hag has officially reunited with a goalkeeper.
However, the move is not one many Manchester United supporters would have expected.
David de Gea, who was allowed to leave Old Trafford by Ten Hag in 2023, has recently been linked with a potential departure from Fiorentina amid reports surrounding his sizeable wages in Italy.
Meanwhile, Andre Onana – a goalkeeper signed by Ten Hag during his time at Manchester United and previously coached by him at Ajax – spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor and has reportedly accepted a fresh contract offer for another temporary stay.
Now, Ten Hag has moved to bolster his options in the Netherlands.
FC Twente confirmed on their official website that veteran goalkeeper Remko Pasveer has returned to the club to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The 42-year-old left Ajax in January before spending the second half of last season with Heracles Almelo.
He will be part of the first-team squad while also taking on a mentoring role for the club’s younger goalkeepers.
Ten Hag, who was appointed as FC Twente’s new technical director earlier this year after a brief spell at Bayer Leverkusen, played a key role in bringing Pasveer back to the club.
The former Manchester United manager was dismissed by United in October 2024.
He previously won both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Pasveer’s arrival, Erik ten Hag said: “Remko is extremely experienced and is a welcome addition to our goalkeeping team this coming season.”
Pasveer and Ten Hag know each other well from their time together at Ajax, where they worked closely between 2021 and 2022.
The experienced shot-stopper also came through FC Twente’s academy and made his senior debut for the club during the 2003/04 season.
According to FC Twente, Pasveer has now played 505 professional matches.
He will combine his playing duties with mentoring the next generation of goalkeepers as he prepares for life after retirement.
