Erik ten Hag receives welcome boost with the return of Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Erik ten Hag’s injury dilemma has been eased this afternoon with news of the return of Aaron Wan-Bissaka ahead of the weekend’s FA Cup fixture against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Following reports of an acceleration in the rehabilitation of Mason Mount earlier today, Wan-Bissaka has been pictured alongside the midfielder during training at Carrington this morning.

The defender has not featured for Ten Hag’s side since he picked up an injury in January during a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, leaving options limited for full-backs throughout a difficult period.

As with Mount, we are unaware how close either player is to making the matchday squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool, with the focus swiftly turning to the manager’s press conference on Friday for news of such.

Regardless, this is undeniably good news on Tuesday, as the availability of both players could prove crucial for United during this defining period of the season.

At 26, the defender has earned a reputation as an elite defensive full-back, supplying an unrivalled form of one-on-one defending. Having made 17 appearances before injury curtailed his progress, his availability will ease selection concerns on the wing, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both unavailable.

Let us know how you feel about his return and if he will challenge the impressive Diogo Dalot for an immediate return to first-team action.
