ESL Chairman claims young people don’t watch football as Chelsea head for Super League

I woke up this morning to some even more crazier news than yesterday, some absolutely astonishingly absurd quotes from the new European Super League Chairman and Real Madrid owner Florentino Perez.

I’d actually go as far to question this mans mental state, because these quotes are just insane.

This one significantly, pretty much proves why Perez is spearheading the Super League – his club have no money, and they want money again. It is THAT simple.

Florentino Perez: "I love Sergio Ramos, but we are in a very bad financial situation at Real Madrid. Nobody puts money into this club. Will he leave the club? I didn't say that… many things can happen. We will think about it at the end of the season".

Then he goes on to claim that this plan is to save football, and that young people do not watch football anymore. Check this though, the odd ball even suggests that football matches could be shortened to keep the fans interested.

Florentino Perez to El Chiringuito: "If young people find football matches too long it may be because they are not interesting enough… or maybe we might have to make the football matches shorter".

Florentino Perez to El Chiringuito: "This #SuperLeague is not for the rich, but it's to save football. If this continues, football will disappear and by 2024 we would already be dead. This is the only way to save everyone: big, medium and small clubs".

He also claims that players participating in the Super League WILL NOT be banned from playing international football, nor will clubs be kicked out of the Champions League and Europa League this season, as what was claimed by UEFA yesterday.

Florentino Perez to Chiringuito: "Players banned from international competitions and National teams according to UEFA? Don't worry, this will NOT happen. They won't be banned if they join #SuperLeague".
